Show Resilience When Photography Is Tough

Whatever challenges we face, our ship will make it to the other side with resilience and courage.

Photography is all about capturing a moment in time that can evoke a myriad of emotions for the viewer; the difference between an incredible shot and a terrible shot is one split second. Colours change, lighting changes, composition changes, winds are against us, it’s bad weather, and so on. All these factors can make the difference between an outstanding shot and a forgettable one.

So it is important for photographers to be mindful of these variables in order to take a photograph. That has an impact on the viewer. It is easy to understand why photography can be such a challenge and why one must be prepared for whatever conditions may arise we must remain resilient to all those factors. This is why photographers must be adaptable in their approach and practise mindfulness when shooting. We explore the importance of resilience in this journal As photographers, we must have the resilience to weather storms, both literal and metaphorical.

We must remain steadfast and push on. Navigating rough seas and fighting against strong headwinds, as if we were a Viking ship making its way through the waves. Whatever challenges we face, our ship will make it to the other side with resilience and courage. With resilience, we have the opportunity to emerge from adversity with a better understanding of ourselves and our work.

To achieve our goals and fulfil our creative ambitions, we must be resilient in both life and photography. Taking photographs can be a rollercoaster ride that requires a great deal of perseverance to achieve the desired result. It isn’t easy to stick to goals or New Year’s resolutions during the month of January. We must use resilience not only to set but also to maintain our goals. Especially during difficult months such as January, when it can be difficult to stay motivated. As photographers, we should be especially resilient in January, when many of us make lofty goals and resolutions for the coming year.

We can find the strength to overcome our obstacles.

If we stay focused and bravely continue in our pursuit of success Confucius famously said,

“Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.”

Confucius

This timeless wisdom reminds us that life will present difficulties and setbacks, but with resilience and courage, we can persevere. You have to stay strong and push through. Once it’s all over, it’s calm seas and smooth sailing.

Keep pushing, warrior.
